NEWS4/23/13 - San Francisco based experimental arts and culture radio show The Organist will be interviewing me about DNA Melody, music, and culture. The Organist is an awesome program published by McSweeney’s and Believer Mag - the interview should broadcast in May or June!
4/4/13 - Scherzo No.2 for piano has been chosen as the required contemporary repertoire for the 16th Annual Ross McKee Piano Competition! Six outstanding young Bay Area pianist will prepare this piece for the final competition. The concert will take place on 6/9/13 at 2p in the Recital Hall at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. 3/5/13 - The Cleveland Clinic has chosen me to speak at their 2013 Summit on Personalized Healthcare in May. I will discuss the impact of music in culture, and my work on DNA Melody. More details about the conference can be found here. 8/12/12 - DNA Melody has just gone live! I've been working on this project with 23andMe for the last few months. I've devised a program that will create a short melody based entirely on segments of your DNA. It's already received some great press, including an article by USA Today! 6/30/12 - TKO is my latest work for string quartet, and is slated to be premiered by the Friction Quartet in the Spring of 2013. I'm excited to debut this piece as part of the Transmediation Project. More details to come! 2/10/11 - I have been accepted to participate in The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra's 'Incredible Shrinking Orchestra Project' where pieces written for full size orchestras are reduced for chamber orchestra. We're going to be working on one of my all time favorite pieces, Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet! 3/15/10 - The Berkeley Symphony has chosen me to participate in their 2010-2011 Under Construction concert series! The program includes a one year residency working closely with composer and artistic advisor Gabriela Frank, and also provides opportunities to workshop with the musicians as I write a new piece for this outstanding orchestra. Very exciting! |
